Castor Oil for Hair
Castor oil for hair is one of the most common ways people use it, and because it is such a heavy oil, a little goes a long way.
How to use castor oil for hair
- Start with dry or slightly damp hair.
- Warm a few drops between your palms. Castor oil is very heavy and sticky, so many people mix it half and half with a lighter oil such as almond or jojoba.
- Apply sparingly to the lengths and ends, or massage a little into the scalp.
- Leave it for as long as suits you, from 30 minutes to overnight with a towel on your pillow.
- Wash it out. It often takes two rounds of shampoo.
Castor oil for lashes and brows
Our label suggests applying it to lashes or brows with a clean applicator, such as a clean mascara wand or cotton bud. Use a tiny amount, keep it out of your eyes, and stop if you notice any irritation.
Tips
- Patch test on your skin first.
- Protect your pillowcase and clothes. It stains.
- Less is more: excess oil is hard to wash out.
Safety
- For external use only. Do not swallow.
- Patch test on a small area first, and stop using it if irritation occurs.
- Do not use on broken skin, and keep it out of your eyes.
- If you are pregnant, check with your doctor or midwife before using castor oil.
- Keep out of reach of children. Store below 25°C.
